In Pawleys Island and Litchfield, you’ll discover dining in picturesque bistros and cafes surrounded by ancient Live Oaks as unforgettable as it is flavorful. Just a little further up the coast, are the ever popular restaurants of Murrells Inlet which attract seafood devotees from across the globe, making this quaint little waterfront village the “Seafood Capital of the South.”
Local Events
The coastal low country of South Carolina teems with activities and events year round. There are tours of Antebellum Plantations and historic Georgetown, the third oldest city in South Carolina. There are tons of fun things to do from parades, festivals, and concerts to art exhibitions, musicals, plays and marathons. The local folks of Pawleys Island love to have fun and embrace their community through celebrations of art, music and history.
Georgetown even has its very own theater troupe, The Swamp Fox Players at The Strand Cinema year round. They will make you laugh and cry your way to a standing ovation. Other events include the Mardis Gras Parade in March, the Prince George Episcopal Plantation Tours in April, the Blessing of the Fleet and the Shag Festival in July. Also in July, there’s the 4th of July Fireworks and Kaminski House concert. In September, you will find the area’s finest artisans at the Atalaya Arts and Crafts Festival. October brings the Wooden Boat Show and the Bridge 2 Bridge Run. In the month of November we have the Taste of Georgetown and Pawleys Island and then in December we have our cherished Christmas Parade, Tree Lighting and Lighted Boat Parade. If you want to be active, the Pawleys Island area is the place for you!

Local Fishing
The estuaries of Winyah Bay is feed by four main rivers that include the Waccamaw, Black River, Sampit and Pee Dee. This perfect ecosystem hosts bountiful wildlife including Bald Eagles, Alligators, Ospreys, Dolphin and Pelicans. Here you can fill you boat with Red Drum, Speckled Trout, Flounder, King Mackerel, Tarpon, Cobia, Black Drum, Sheepshead, and Spadefish. Winyah Bay, the jetties, near shore, inshore, and flats fishing along the historic beautiful coast near Georgetown are the perfect places to fish for your favorite catch.
Part of Winyah Bay is North Inlet. Much of the land surrounding the inlet is unpopulated and is set aside as a nature preserve. This makes the local fishing a little tough to get to but the rewards can be incredible. The inlet produces some of the finest Flounder, Speckled Trout and Tarpon that can be found. If isolations and a peaceful retreat is what you are looking for, look no further than a day of fishing in the North Inlet. For even more of this type of fishing, go South of Winyah Bay to the Santee Delta. Here too you will find undisturbed solitude and fishing at its finest.
